Nomad eSIM: plans, prices and limits

Nomad sells country and regional eSIM plans, including unlimited plans priced by duration. You can also compare its advertised starting rates per GB, but those are a different price reference from the unlimited plans in our price table.

The main trade-off is clear: Nomad gives you several ways to pick a plan, but you need to read the specific plan details for network availability, speed, add-ons and any included phone number. The unlimited label alone does not settle those questions.

What Nomad sells

Nomad lets you buy a plan for a country or region and choose based on where you need data, how much you need and how long you need it. Its Europe listing includes an unlimited regional plan. Country listings also include unlimited options, with prices tied to their validity period.

For per-GB comparisons, Nomad advertises starting rates of USD 0.60 per GB for the United States, USD 0.70 per GB for Italy and USD 1.38 per GB for Canada. These are country starting rates, not quoted regional bundle rates or the total price of an unlimited plan.

Nomad also advertises a free 1 GB trial eSIM for new users. The Nomad provider pages we checked do not state a regional per-GB rate or the trial's validity.

Prices on the destinations we track

Our price table shows a repeated pattern: Nomad lists unlimited data for 3 days at US$11.00 in Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom and several other destinations, checked Oct 2026. That makes the listed short-duration price consistent across much of the table, but not across every destination.

Nomad's exceptions include Mexico at US$10.00, China at US$12.00 and Canada at US$18.00, each for unlimited data valid for 3 days. Canada therefore costs more for the same listed duration; the plan label alone is not enough to compare value.

Nomad lists unlimited data for 5 days at US$19.00 for Europe and US$17.00 for Turkey. Compare these with plans that match your trip length rather than treating every unlimited listing as equivalent.

Keep headline starting prices separate from selected plan prices. For example, Nomad's Europe page advertises plans 'from US$ 3,' while its listed unlimited option costs US$19.00 for 5 days. The headline is not the price of that unlimited plan.

Fair use, speed and hotspot

Nomad says its eSIMs support tethering and hotspot. That is useful if you want to share your connection, but it does not establish that an unlimited plan runs at a constant speed. The Nomad provider pages we checked do not state a fair-use allowance or speed cap for these unlimited listings.

Nomad's Spain, Mexico, Canada and South Korea pages tell you to check plan details for specific network availability and speed. They also say coverage can vary by location and time of day. Treat the named networks as information to check against your chosen plan, not a speed guarantee.

For example, Nomad names KDDI au and SoftBank in Japan, Verizon and AT&T in the United States, and Rogers and Freedom Mobile in Canada. Its South Korea page advertises 4G connectivity. These details help describe the service, but do not resolve the unlimited-plan speed questions.

App, setup and support

Nomad is available on iOS and Android. It offers one-tap installation or installation by scanning a QR code, and advertises installation in 5 minutes. That is Nomad's setup claim, not a measured result from our research.

Nomad advertises 24/7 customer support through live chat and email. Those are the support channels to use if you need help with your purchase or installation.

Top-ups depend on the plan. Nomad says some plans have add-ons available; you buy an add-on from its shop, and the additional data is tied to the main eSIM. Check availability before relying on a later top-up. Nomad also says some eSIMs include a local phone number, so check the plan details if that matters to you.

Who Nomad suits

Nomad is worth considering if you want to compare country plans with a regional option, or prefer an unlimited plan priced by days rather than choosing a fixed data allowance. Its advertised per-GB starting rates offer another comparison point, but they should not replace checking the total price and duration of the plan you select.

Nomad's stated hotspot support may matter if you want to share data. Its new-user trial may also interest you before a paid purchase, provided you check the offer's terms.

The trade-off is the amount of plan-level checking required. If your decision depends on predictable unlimited speeds, a guaranteed top-up option or an included local number, the broad product descriptions are not enough. Check those details before buying.

Questions travelers ask

Does Nomad offer a free eSIM trial?

Nomad advertises a free 1 GB trial eSIM for new users. Check the trial offer's terms before relying on it for your trip.

How much is Nomad's Europe unlimited eSIM?

Nomad lists unlimited data for Europe at US$19.00, valid for 5 days. Its lower headline starting price refers to a different price point, not that unlimited listing.

Can I use hotspot with a Nomad eSIM?

Yes. Nomad says its eSIMs support tethering and hotspot. Check your selected plan's speed and network details rather than treating hotspot support as a speed guarantee.

Can I top up a Nomad eSIM?
