Prices as listed on each provider's Global page in USD. Per-GB is our calculation. Unlimited plans have no per-GB figure because the price does not depend on use.
Which global plan size fits your trip
Start with the smallest allowance you can use within its validity. Saily's Global 1 GB plan costs US$8.99 for 7 days, the lowest entry price in our global price table. Nomad lists Global 1 GB for 7 days at US$12.00. Those plans have the same allowance and duration, so coverage and activation rules are useful next checks.
For a longer trip or several trips, Saily lists 20 GB for 365 days at US$66.99. Its 50 GB plan also lasts 365 days and costs US$129.99, or US$2.60 per GB—the lowest price per GB in our global table. The trade-off is the larger upfront payment. A lower unit price helps only if you use the allowance before it expires.
Keep duration and data size separate when choosing. A long validity window does not give you more data, and a large allowance does not extend a short plan's expiry. Use your travel dates to narrow the table before comparing prices.
Unlimited plans and their limits
Airalo lists unlimited Global data for 7 days at US$45.00; Holafly lists the same duration at US$46.90. For 30 days, Airalo costs US$159.00 and Holafly costs US$161.50. Compare those total prices with a fixed allowance rather than assuming unlimited is the cheaper choice.
Holafly's unlimited data does not mean unlimited hotspot sharing. Its Global page allows 1 GB of shared data per day. Holafly also says network operators can apply a Fair Usage Policy that temporarily reduces speed for no more than 1 day, with the restriction resetting the following day.
Saily says it allows limitless hotspot sharing. That removes a separate sharing limit, but its Global plans still have fixed data allowances. If you connect a laptop or another traveler's phone, weigh the sharing rule alongside the amount of data you buy.
How many countries the regional plans cover
For a trip across several regions, compare the global plan's destination list rather than the provider's overall reach. Airalo labels its Global page "168 Countries and Networks." Its broader statement about local, regional, and global coverage for 200+ locations is not the same as that Global plan listing.
Holafly says its Global eSIM covers more than 200 destinations, subject to local network availability. Destinations are not necessarily a count of countries. The provider pages we checked do not state country counts for Saily or Nomad.
Check your actual stops, including any territories. Nomad warns that coverage may exclude overseas territories under a listed country's jurisdiction and asks you to confirm with customer support before purchasing. A headline coverage count cannot settle that question for your route.
Networks and coverage
Holafly names local networks on its Global page, including AT&T and T-Mobile in the USA, KDDI and Softbank in Japan, and Bell and Telus in Canada. It advertises 5G where available, as well as 4G and LTE. Those network names help you check individual stops, but they are not a promise of the same connection everywhere.
Holafly says coverage can be weaker or unstable in deserts, mountains, or jungles. Saily lists 3G, 4G, LTE, and 5G depending on local network providers. Nomad directs you to your plan details for network availability and speed, warning that coverage can vary by location and time of day. Match those caveats to your route, especially outside populated areas.
Before you fly
Separate installation from the start of your plan. Airalo says you can install in advance with a stable internet connection. In the coverage area, turn the eSIM on and select it for data. Check for available top-up packages if you expect to need more data later.
Saily says activation is automatic at your first destination when the eSIM is on and roaming is enabled. Its plans have a 180-day activation period, after which they activate automatically. Nomad allows you to buy and install ahead of time, but requires activation within 60 days of purchase; after that, the plan automatically activates and starts its expiry.
Check what you need beyond data before buying. Holafly's Global eSIM is data-only and does not include a local phone number for traditional calls or texts. Nomad offers add-ons that activate automatically when your initial plan expires.
