Germany eSIM plans compared

Pick your Germany eSIM by coverage area, data allowance, and validity, not the headline price alone. The plan finder and our price table above let you compare those details across Airalo, Holafly, Saily, Nomad, Yesim, and Ubigi. Prices were checked Oct 2026.

If you stay in Germany, compare the Germany plans first. If your trip crosses borders, check a regional Europe package against your itinerary. Unlimited data, hotspot access, and named networks also need separate checks.

Fair-use notes, quoted from provider pages

  • Holafly: "In rare cases, yes. Network operators use an international measure called the Fair Usage Policy." provider page
  • Holafly: "This is temporarily applied for no more than one (1) day to manage network traffic, ensuring an optimal connection for all users." provider page
  • Nomad: "Please check your plan details for specific network availability and speed, as coverage may vary by location and time of day." provider page
  • Nomad: "Coverage may not include overseas territories under the jurisdiction of the specified country (or countries). Please contact customer support to confirm before purchasing." provider page
  • Yesim: "Data speed may be limited in accordance with the network operator's Fair Usage Policy" provider page
  • Yesim: "While such a data plan offers unlimited high-speed data usage, you should be aware that your data speed will not always be at its maximum. To prevent network congestion, most mobile service providers implement a daily usage limit. Once this limit has been reached, your data speed will be reduced, or "throttled."" provider page

Which plan size fits your trip to Germany

Choose an allowance you expect to use, then check that its validity covers your stay. Yesim lists 1 GB for 30 days at US$3.00, the lowest entry price in our price table. Saily lists 1 GB for 7 days at US$4.49. A longer validity period does not give you more data.

For a larger allowance, Saily lists 10 GB for 30 days at US$16.99, compared with Yesim's 10 GB for 30 days at US$19.20. Yesim's 30 GB for 30 days costs US$33.60, or US$1.12 per GB, the lowest price per GB in our table. That lower unit price is useful only if you need the larger allowance.

For travel beyond Germany, Airalo's Germany page points to a European Union and United Kingdom package starting at US$4.00. Yesim promotes Europe & UK coverage across 33 countries from $1.10 per GB. These starting prices are not like-for-like quotes for the Germany allowances above.

Airalo says its regional packages include the selected location. Check the other countries on your route before buying. The regional offers shown on the provider pages we checked do not state their data allowances and validity alongside those starting prices.

Unlimited plans and their limits

Match unlimited plans by duration before comparing price. For 7 days, Airalo and Ubigi each list US$24.00, while Holafly lists US$27.50. For 30 days, Ubigi lists US$58.00, Airalo US$59.00, and Holafly US$76.50.

Unlimited does not mean unrestricted speed. Holafly says network operators may apply a Fair Usage Policy in rare cases, temporarily for no more than 1 day. Yesim also warns that operator fair-use rules may limit speed and describes throttling after a daily usage limit.

Check sharing rules separately from the phone's data allowance. Holafly allows you to share 1 GB per day through a hotspot. Saily states that hotspot access has no restrictions, but its fixed-data plans still have the allowance you buy. Yesim says hotspot availability depends on the operator.

If you need to connect a laptop, Holafly's daily sharing allowance is a concrete limit to weigh against its unlimited phone data. Do not treat the unlimited label alone as a promise of unrestricted tethering.

Networks and coverage

Airalo names O2 and indicates an additional network on its Germany page. Holafly names Vodafone Germany and Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG. Nomad names O2 and Vodafone. Saily describes local network carriers but does not name them on the Germany page we checked.

A network name is not a guarantee of coverage at every stop. Nomad says coverage may vary by location and time of day, and asks you to check the specific plan's network availability and speed.

Holafly advertises 5G where available, plus 4G and LTE. Saily says connectivity depends on local network providers, while Yesim says speed depends on the provider and location. Compare the named networks, but keep those qualifications in view.

Before you fly

Check your exact phone's eSIM support before purchasing. Then read your chosen provider's installation and activation instructions. Installing an eSIM and starting its validity are separate details to confirm.

Airalo says you can install in advance with a stable internet connection, including while outside the coverage area. At your destination, turn the eSIM on and select it for data. Airalo also offers top-ups in many cases; check whether they are available for your eSIM.

Saily says activation is automatic on arrival when its eSIM is turned on and roaming is enabled. Its activation window is 180 days. Nomad allows installation ahead of travel, but requires activation within 60 days of purchase; after that, the plan activates automatically and its expiry starts.

Yesim requires activation within 180 days of purchase, and validity begins when you connect to a compatible network. Holafly says its plan starts when you connect the eSIM to a supported network at your destination.

Check Holafly's residency restriction before paying. It says its travel eSIMs do not provide domestic connectivity in your home country, including the entire EU region if you are an EU-based resident.

Questions travelers ask

What is the cheapest Germany eSIM in this comparison?

Yesim's 1 GB plan for 30 days costs US$3.00, the lowest entry price in our price table. For price per GB, Yesim's 30 GB plan for 30 days costs US$33.60, or US$1.12 per GB. The larger plan costs more overall.

Should I buy a Germany eSIM or a Europe eSIM?

If you stay in Germany, compare Germany plans first. For a cross-border trip, check a regional package's country list. Airalo lists a European Union and United Kingdom package, and Yesim promotes Europe & UK coverage across 33 countries. Compare the actual allowance and validity before choosing.

Can I use a hotspot with a Germany eSIM?

Holafly allows 1 GB of hotspot sharing per day. Saily states that hotspot access has no restrictions, within your purchased data allowance. Yesim says hotspot access depends on the operator.

Does a Germany eSIM include a phone number?

Holafly's Germany eSIM is data-only and does not include a local number for traditional calls or texts. Saily says calls are available with a phone number and minutes plan, and SMS with a phone number and text message plan. Do not assume its listed data allowance includes those services.
