Yesim eSIM: plans, prices and limits

What Yesim sells

Yesim's prepaid eSIM plans are data-only. They do not include a mobile phone number, and the eSIM itself cannot make or receive voice calls, SMS or MMS. Yesim recommends apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger and Viber for calls and messages.

The fixed destination plans in our price table are valid for 30 days. Allowances vary by destination: Yesim lists Japan plans from 1 GB to 30 GB, while Thailand and Turkey have options up to 50 GB. You can compare the total price alongside the cost per GB.

For day-based use, Yesim advertises Unlim Day Pass coverage in 83 countries from $2.98 per day. Yesim's refund policy says the 24-hour usage period begins when your device connects to a mobile network. It also advertises Pay&Fly in 170+ countries from $1.10 per GB and Global Plus Package coverage in 146 countries from $3.26 per GB. These are starting prices, not destination-specific quotes.

Prices on the destinations we track

Yesim uses the same fixed-plan pricing across the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Spain and Greece. In each, Yesim lists 1 GB for 30 days at US$3.00 and 30 GB for 30 days at US$33.60. The larger plan works out to US$1.12 per GB.

The drop in cost per GB is clear in Japan. Yesim's 1 GB plan costs US$4.44, or US$4.44 per GB. Its 10 GB plan costs US$19.20, or US$1.92 per GB, and its 30 GB plan costs US$39.60, or US$1.32 per GB. All have 30-day validity.

Thailand has lower large-plan prices than several other destinations in our table. Yesim lists 20 GB for US$20.40, or US$1.02 per GB. By comparison, Yesim's 20 GB plans cost US$39.60 in Canada and US$43.20 in Mexico, working out to US$1.98 and US$2.16 per GB respectively. These plans are valid for 30 days.

Compare the plan card rather than the headline price. Yesim's United States page advertises a $0.54 first-time deal, but that buys 500 MB for 1 day. Its standard 1 GB plan costs US$3.72 for 30 days. A lower entry price does not mean the same allowance or validity.

Fair use, speed and hotspot

Yesim's destination pages say data speed may be limited under the network operator's Fair Usage Policy. Its United States unlimited-plan page says a speed reduction may apply after you reach a certain amount of data. The Italy, Spain, Mexico and Canada pages also explain that speed can be throttled after a daily usage limit.

Unlimited therefore does not promise maximum speed throughout your use. The provider pages we checked do not state a numerical fair-use threshold or the speed after throttling. If sustained speed matters more to you than avoiding a fixed allowance, that uncertainty is a trade-off.

Yesim's main page says hotspot sharing is enabled by default, carries no additional fee and deducts tethered data from your plan. But its Mexico page and United States unlimited-plan page say hotspot access depends on the operator. Check the specific plan before relying on it for another device.

App, setup and support

Before buying, Yesim requires you to check that your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. Its terms also require an active internet connection for installation and activation. Yesim offers app installation through the "Install eSIM" button and says you receive an eSIM QR code after payment.

You can track remaining data and days in the app's "Internet" section or your website profile. Yesim says it sends a push notification and email when you use 70% of your data, and you can top up through the app. It advertises 24/7 support with an average response time of 5 minutes; that is Yesim's stated average, not a guaranteed wait.

Read the refund policy before installing. Yesim allows refund requests within 30 calendar days only if the service has not been activated, used or expired. Installation counts as activation. Its policy also requires technical errors to be reported within 1 hour, and approved refunds of €10 or less are issued as Ycoins rather than cash.

Who Yesim suits

Yesim suits you if you want a fixed allowance with a visible cost per GB and app-based data tracking. Its larger plans lower the unit cost, but only buy the extra allowance if you expect to use it. A cheaper GB does not reduce the total price you pay.

The Unlim Day Pass is worth comparing if you prefer day-based billing across its covered destinations. The trade-off is fair-use speed reduction rather than a clearly quantified high-speed allowance. If you need dependable hotspot access or the option to cancel after installation, Yesim's operator conditions and refund restrictions deserve particular attention.
