United States eSIM plans compared

Pick your United States eSIM by trip length, data allowance, and hotspot rules. For a road trip, compare the named networks too: a low price does not tell you how coverage will hold up along your route.

Our price table compares Airalo, Holafly, Saily, Nomad, and Yesim, checked Oct 2026. Use the plan finder above to narrow your options, then check the limits below before you buy.

Fair-use notes, quoted from provider pages

  • Holafly: "In rare cases, yes. Network operators use an international measure called the Fair Usage Policy. This is temporarily applied for no more than one (1) day to manage network traffic, ensuring an optimal connection for all users." source
  • Holafly: "Use your phone as a WiFi hotspot and share up to 1 GB per day. Your total shareable data depends on your eSIM card USA plan length — a 7-day plan includes 7 GB." source
  • Saily: "Unlimited plan includes: 5GB/Day without a speed limit" source
  • Saily: "Unlimited data at up to 1 Mbps" source
  • Yesim: "Data speed may be limited in accordance with the network operator's Fair Usage Policy" source
  • Yesim: "To prevent network congestion, most mobile service providers implement a daily usage limit. Once this limit has been reached, your data speed will be reduced, or "throttled."" source

Which plan size fits your trip to United States

Start with validity, then choose the data amount. Yesim lists 1 GB for 30 days at US$3.72, the lowest entry price in our price table. Saily lists 1 GB for 7 days at US$3.99. A longer validity period gives you more time to use the allowance, not more data.

For a longer stay, compare larger fixed allowances before paying for unlimited. Yesim lists 10 GB for 30 days at US$16.80 and 30 GB for 30 days at US$31.92. The latter works out to US$1.06 per GB, the lowest price per GB in our table. Saily lists 10 GB for 30 days at US$22.99.

Choose a larger allowance only if you expect to use it. If your trip extends beyond the plan's validity, check extension options before buying. Nomad offers add-ons that activate when the initial plan expires. Airalo says top-ups are available for some eSIMs and shows available packages before and after purchase.

Unlimited plans and their limits

Compare unlimited plans by both duration and restrictions. For 30 days, Airalo lists unlimited data at US$68.00 and Holafly at US$73.90. For 15 days, Saily lists US$45.99, Airalo US$46.00, and Holafly US$50.50. The price alone does not explain how much full-speed or shareable data you get.

Saily's unlimited plan includes 5 GB per day without a speed limit, followed by unlimited data at up to 1 Mbps. Saily also lists hotspot access with no restrictions. That makes its hotspot terms less restrictive than Holafly's, but the unlimited plan still has a daily full-speed allowance.

Holafly lets you share up to 1 GB per day through your hotspot. Its 7-day plan includes up to 7 GB of shareable data. Holafly also says network operators may apply a Fair Usage Policy in rare cases, temporarily for no more than 1 day.

Yesim says speed may be limited under the network operator's Fair Usage Policy, and its hotspot availability depends on the operator. The Airalo and Nomad provider pages we checked do not state a daily full-speed allowance or hotspot limit. Do not treat the unlimited label as a promise of unrestricted laptop use.

Networks and coverage

Use the named networks to narrow your choice, especially if you are driving between cities. These are the networks listed on the United States provider pages:

  • Airalo names T-Mobile and an additional network.
  • Holafly names AT&T and T-Mobile.
  • Saily names AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.
  • Nomad names Verizon and AT&T.

Before you fly

For a road trip, distinguish nationwide validity from coverage along every road. Holafly says its eSIM is valid in all 50 states and you can move between states without switching eSIMs. It also warns that coverage may be weaker or less stable in rural areas, deserts, mountains, and roads far from populated areas.

Nomad advises checking the specific plan's network availability and speed because coverage varies by location and time of day. Yesim describes automatic switching to the strongest available signal, but the provider page we checked does not name its US partner networks.

Check your phone's eSIM compatibility before buying, then follow your provider's installation and activation instructions. Airalo says you can install in advance with a stable internet connection, including while outside the coverage area.

Watch the activation window if you buy early. Nomad requires activation within 60 days of purchase; after that, the plan activates automatically and validity starts. Saily lists a 180-day activation period and automatic activation on arrival when its eSIM is turned on and roaming is enabled. Yesim lists activation within 180 days, with validity beginning when you connect to a compatible network.

Holafly says its plan begins when you arrive and turn on the eSIM. Its United States eSIM is data-only, without a local number for traditional calls or text messages. If you need those services, do not choose it expecting them to be included.

Questions travelers ask

Which United States eSIM has the lowest price?

Yesim's 1 GB plan for 30 days at US$3.72 has the lowest entry price in our price table. For price per GB, Yesim's 30 GB plan for 30 days at US$31.92 works out to US$1.06 per GB. These answer different needs: a low upfront cost versus a larger allowance.

Can I use a hotspot with a United States eSIM?

Saily lists hotspot access with no restrictions, though its unlimited plan's speed allowance still applies. Holafly limits sharing to 1 GB per day. Yesim says hotspot availability depends on the operator.

Will my eSIM work on a road trip across the United States?

Holafly says its eSIM is valid in all 50 states without switching eSIMs between states. That does not guarantee coverage along every route: Holafly warns of weaker or less stable service in remote, desert, and mountainous areas.

Can I extend my United States eSIM plan?

Nomad offers add-ons that activate automatically when your initial plan expires. Airalo says some eSIMs support top-ups, with available packages shown before and after purchase. Check those options if your travel dates may change.
